Rumors surfacing the web for past few hours. Now it turns true that Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele has passed away at 48. Reportedly he died of heart failure on April 14, 2010.
Though there has been no official statement from the band Type O Negative, Fuse VJ “MistressJuliya confirmed the news in her Twitter account. In her four tweets MistressJuliya said:
“Today is a very sad day in metal…”
“End of an era.”
“Peter Steele passed today. I loved my friend…our idol…my heart is with his band and family…”
“@msjenncity (Steele) passed of heart failure. Just spoke to Kenny (Hickey of Type O Negative).”
Peter Steele was the lead singer, bassist, and composer for the Gothic metal band Type O Negative. He was also the founder of band Carnivore. He was famous for his dry witty sarcasm. Some women would remember him for his Playgirl modeling days. “Black Sabbath,” “Black No. 1″, “Christian Woman” are some of greatest hits by Peter Steele and his group of Type O Negative.
Here I want to mention that, earlier Peter Steele’s death was hoaxed in 2005, citing several causes. So, this time when the shocking news came, it was hard to believe for his fans. But when the credible sources confirmed it, they broke into tears.
Meanwhile, condolence messages are emerging online from his friends, admirer.
