Space Shuttle Landing Today
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Space shuttle Discovery is finally headed home.
The sky over NASA’s Florida landing strip cleared enough for Mission Control to give the seven astronauts the green light. They’ve fired the braking rockets and are aiming for a touchdown at 9:08 a.m. EDT.

Shuttle landing – After spending an extra day in orbit, the seven astronauts aboard the space shuttle Discovery prepared for a Tuesday morning landing at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA officials have been closely monitoring weather conditions and passed on the first of two landing opportunities. Later they gave the go-ahead for a landing at 9:08 a.m. ET Tuesday.
Bad weather prompted mission managers to scrap two landing opportunities at Kennedy on Monday.
