Nissan Recall 2010

Nissan Recall 2010: 540K Vehicles Recalled Over Brake Pedal Problems

Despite no reported accidents or injuries, here's everything you need to know about the big Nissan recall announced today.
540,000 cars have been recalled by Nissan Motor over faulty brake pedal issues that may also affect the fuel gauge.
As the AFP reports this morning, the recall covers "the Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56 built from 2005 to 2008, and the Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008." The brake pedals could have faulty components that can cause the pedals to wobble, AFP reported.
The WSJ notes that the move comes on the heels of Nissan recalling more than 70,00 vehicles in Japan over engine electric cables. The vast majority of vehicles, some 418,865, are U.S. models.
Here's more from the AFP: "Vehicles at higher mileage levels may have fuel gauges which incorrectly indicate the amount of fuel in the tank. This may result in the vehicle running out of fuel while the gauge reads greater than empty."
Nissan said the problem were caused by its suppliers.

Nissan Recalls List — Nissan Motor Co. seems to be influenced by Toyota recall. Right now in the United States, Nissan automaker is recalling about 260,000 vehicles covering pickup trucks, sport vehicles and minivans to fix some problems with fuel gauges and brake pedals .
A pin in the brake pedal assemblies on certain 2008 to 2010 Titan pickups and Armada SUVs and some 2008 and 2009 Quest minivans can come loose and cause reduced braking force, Nissan said Tuesday in a statement.
No injuries or crashes have been reported, the company said. Customers with loose brake pedals should contact their dealer.

Nissan also is recalling certain 2005 to 2009 Armadas and Titans and some 2006 and 2008 Frontier pickups and Xterra and Pathfinder SUVs due to faulty gas gauges. Due to a problem with a sensor inside the fuel tank, the gauges can show gas tanks a quarter full when they are in fact empty.
Nissan suggests keeping a half-tank of gas in the vehicles until the gauges can be repaired, eliminating the risk of running low on fuel.
Owners of vehicles in both recalls will be notified when to bring their cars and trucks in for repairs. In materials distributed to dealers, Nissan said the brake pedal recall begins on March 22, while the fuel-gauge recall will take place in two groups, one beginning March 22 and the other starting in April.
Some vehicles are covered by both recalls, the company said.
These following vehicles are on Nissan recalls list.
  1. 2010 Nissan Altima
  2. 2010 Nissan Maxima
  3. 2009 Nissan Frontier
  4. 2009 Nissan Cube
  5. 2009 Nissan Altima
  6. 2009 Nissan Xterra
  7. 2009 Nissan Rogue
  8. 2009 Nissan Pathfinder
  9. 2009 Nissan Maxima
  10. 2009 Nissan Murano
